Shelter Cat Missing Ears Gets A Very Special Present From Her Caretaker

Recently, rescuers from Best Friends Animals Society found themselves in the right place at the right time. While in a parking lot in central Arkansas, they spotted a stray cat with an unusual appearance.

Upon closer inspection, they were shocked to discover she was missing her ears. Though they didn’t know what had happened to her, they knew one thing – she deserved a new chance at life.

Without hesitation, they took her to the shelter, but what happened next warmed the Internet’s heart!

After a thorough examination, the rescued cat, named Sweet Pea, was ready for a foster home. Erin Parker, an experienced foster mom, welcomed her with open arms.

Erin was moved by Sweet Pea’s immediate trust and affectionate nature. Despite all she had endured, Sweet Pea showed nothing but love for her foster mom. Erin shared in an interview:

“She’s super sweet, so I think at one point she probably had an owner that really cared for her. She wasn’t shy at all. She wanted lots of attention.”

Sweet Pea quickly settled into her foster home, seeking cuddles and attention from Erin at every opportunity. In return, Erin wanted to do something special for her to help her feel confident and cared for. She explained:

“I don’t want her to feel left out. I don’t want her to feel different from other cats.”

Erin had a perfect idea in mind, so she reached out to her crafty friend Chloe to crochet a pair of ears for Sweet Pea.

Chloe gladly accepted the offer and the result was beyond adorable. To everyone’s delight, Sweet Pea seemed to love her new ears. While most cats might be reluctant to wear accessories, Sweet Pea proudly donned her new look.

On the other hand, Erin hoped that Sweet Pea’s new appearance would help her find a forever home. Fortunately, her plan worked faster than expected.

As soon as Best Friends Animal Society shared a photo of Sweet Pea with her new ears, a loving family fell in love with her. The family adopted her, and she quickly began to thrive in her new life. One family member shared:

“Sweet Pea is doing really well, she adjusted to our household in no time. She loves playing with her toys and sitting on the windowsill. Her ears also healed completely, and she doesn’t seem to be bothered by the trauma to them.”

Though Erin shared a strong bond with Sweet Pea, she was overjoyed to see her find a loving family. She hopes Sweet Pea’s story will inspire others to adopt animals with physical differences, as they’re filled with just as much love and loyalty as any other pet.
